This policy explains how FurFotos, Inc. handles personal information on https://furfotos.com. The rules for using the site are in the Terms of Service.

Who we are

FurFotos, Inc. runs https://furfotos.com. Privacy questions go to [email protected].

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Account

When you register, we collect your name, email address, password, and pet name, and we create a family. The password is stored in a form that is not the password itself. An invitation uses the invited person's email address. That person must create their own account. If you pay, we keep the billing name and address you submit. Stripe processes the card. FurFotos does not store the full card number.

Sign-in, sharing, and ads

You can register or sign in with Apple, Google, X, or Facebook. We receive the name, email address, and account id that the service sends. Apple may hide your real email address behind a private relay address. If you share a post to Facebook, Instagram, or X, that service receives the post you chose to share. FurFotos shows Google ads in the left and right margins. Google can collect information about that ad, including through its own cookies.

Comments

A comment stores the comment and the account that posted it. FurFotos does not send comments to Gravatar and does not keep a separate log of the commenter's IP address for spam detection.

Media

Photos and videos are stored on the FurFotos server. FurFotos compresses a photo and makes smaller copies for display. FurFotos removes location data from a photo when it is stored. A public post can be seen by other people on FurFotos. A private family is visible to its accepted members.

Contact forms

The contact form sends your name, email address, phone number if you enter one, the reason, and the message to FurFotos so we can reply.

Cookies

FurFotos uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. It lasts about two hours unless you select Remember login. If you select Remember login, a cookie keeps you signed in on that browser until you log out. A security cookie protects forms. It is not used to follow you across other sites. Google's ads can set their own cookies.

Analytics

FurFotos does not use a separate analytics product. Google ads are separate from analytics.

Who we share your data with

FurFotos does not sell your personal information. We share information with the companies that perform a task for the site: Stripe, to take a payment; Apple, Google, X, or Facebook, when you use that service to sign in; Facebook, Instagram, or X, when you choose to share a post there; Google, for the ads in the margins; and Cloudflare, which delivers the site. Photos and account records are stored on a server FurFotos controls.

How long we retain your data

We keep the account while it is open. You can see and correct your profile information. If a paid membership ends, photo files are deleted 6 months after the last successful payment. The account record can remain. Lifetime photos are not deleted on that schedule. A comment stays with its post until the post or the account is deleted.

If you email [email protected] and ask us to delete your information, we delete the account and the photos. We can keep a record that security, taxes, or a dispute requires us to keep.

What rights you have over your data

Email [email protected] to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it.

Where we send your data

Payment details go to Stripe. Sign-in and sharing go to the service you choose. Ad requests go to Google. The site is delivered through Cloudflare. We do not send comments to a separate spam service.

Additional information

You must be 18 or older to open an account. You may post a photo of a person under 18 only if you are that person's parent or guardian, or you have the parent or guardian's permission. If we learn that an account holder is under 18, we close the account.

How we protect your data

Passwords are not stored as plain text. Photos and account records are on the FurFotos server, and access to that server is limited to operating the site. No method of storage is perfect.

What data breach procedures we have in place

If we learn of a breach that creates a real risk to account holders, we post a notice on https://furfotos.com and email the affected account holders when email sending is available.

What third parties we receive data from

If you sign in with Apple, Google, X, or Facebook, we receive the name, email address, and account id from that service. Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your real email address.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

FurFotos does not profile you for an automated decision about your account. A paid plan is marked from Stripe's report that a payment succeeded or that a subscription was cancelled.
